Carmen San Diego found in San Diego!
Carmen San Diego, 35, of San Diego California, has been spotted in the Whale’s Vagina.
The mother of one and former Charger cheerleader explains the confusion.
“My original name is Carmen Isabela Valdez, which I went by until I was 20.” she explains, at which point she adopted the stage name Carmen Sandiego after accepting a job as a dancer. “One of my regulars was this crazy guy named Sterling. He was good looking and usually had money. Anyway, one time he got really drunk and started rambling on about how he was a spy, and how he had all these money problems. I wrote it off as a drunken episode.”
Sterling traveled a lot, but always came by the club when he was in town. Each time Carmen saw him, he looked increasingly haggard. She began to worry about his mental stability.
“I let him crash on my couch one night, which turned into two weeks. He didn’t move except to grab another beer from the fridge. The guy was a mess.” she says, recalling her younger days. “The last time I saw him was when I finally kicked him out. He hadn’t shaved or showered in at least a week, and he broke down sobbing. Said he loved me and saw a future with me, all that.”
The last thing he said to her, was that she would rue the day she crossed him.
That’s when the nightmare started. Carmen’s identity was stolen, and charges popped up all over the globe. It seemed that no matter what she did, the thief always found a loophole. Credit cards in Sandiego’s name were used at whore houses in Thailand, strip clubs in Italy, and a sex shop in Germany.
“The whole thing was insane.” but it had only started. The identity thief began getting into trouble, like pulling off major heists in both Europe and the Soviet Union. When credit card purchases were linked to the crimes, newspapers released the name “Carmen Sandiego” as the culprit. “My phone blew up with calls for interviews, and reporters staked out in front of my house.” she says.
Carmen Sandiego became a top ten most wanted fugitive, while Carmen Valdez simply wanted out of the limelight. Who could have guessed it?
Carmen Sandiego found in Sandiego.
She moved, changed her phone number, and decided not to update her address. When the FBI figured out what was going on, they decided not to change the ten most wanted until they could verify the identity of the actual thief. On top of all that, Valdez was surprised to learn that her name had been legally changed to “Carmen Sandiego”. A final prank from the conman who made a naive young dancer internationally infamous.
“I don’t even know if Sterling is his real name. He never told me his last name.” says Carmen, who was told to call the FBI if Sterling were ever to contact her again. Carmen recovered from the theft and has lead a fulfilling life, while the mystery man Sterling remains on the run. Carmen is happy that chapter of her life is over, and still holds out hope that the criminal who stole her name will be brought to justice.
