You’re entering your thirties now, and still trying to navigate the world without meaningful employment.
You wonder why you can’t find happiness, or the girl you will end up with. You put enough effort into your side project that it constitutes a hobby, but are counting on it to come through as a job. I know your generation hates spoiler alerts, but it won’t.
Western ideals and the free market model of capitalism has done wonders for our species, and it could help you too. Hasn’t the charade run its course? Isn’t it time to do it right? Start at the bottom, and outwork everyone. Try to outwork yourself. Don’t think about raises or promotions, just do the job expected of you. Get your hands dirty, put some coin in your pocket, and take an actual woman out on an actual date.
If you muster the gumption to reach this point, you should be lost in the swing of things.
Superiors will be overloading you with tasks, all testing your fortitude. Do not show them your breaking point, or any hint of weakness. Take nothing personally. This is the initiation period, and if you falter under its pressure, you will fall short of the top. Avoid confrontation. You want to dominate, and eventually outrank all of your coworkers. This is why we are direct and friendly, always establishing rapport so that we aren’t the next eliminated contestant on Survivor, workplace edition. It’s a long game, this existing in the real world.
Learn to enjoy your time in, and savor your time off. Stop smoking marijuana, and start drinking alcohol on weekend nights instead of weekday afternoons. If you’ve learned nothing in life so far, heed the following advice; You build strength through collaboration, and no individual is stronger than a working team. You cannot do it all by yourself, and nothing gets done if you won’t do anything. Waiting is for the weak, consistency for the wise. Work your way up a hierarchy. Fortify connections, that thing you call networking. Put yourself in a place where you actually have the skills and competency to be a one man team.
